THE POSITION

The Senior Product Engineer is a visionary leader who can drive the product strategy and roadmap for our cutting-edge campers, while also possessing deep expertise in designing and implementing robust electrical systems. This role is instrumental in shaping the future of our products, ensuring they meet market demands, exceed customer expectations, and feature reliable, advanced functionalities.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Leadership:

  • Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our pop-up campers, aligning with company goals and market opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback gathering to identify new product features, enhancements, and innovative solutions.
  • Translate user needs and business requirements into detailed product specifications and user stories.
  • Prioritize features and initiatives based on strategic value, customer impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, including new product introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Monitor product performance post-launch, gathering data and insights to inform future iterations.

Engineering:

  • Design, develop, and test all electrical systems and components for pop-up campers, including but not limited to:
  • 12V DC and 120V AC power distribution systems.
  • Battery management systems (BMS) and charging solutions (solar, shore power, vehicle charging).
  • Interior and exterior lighting.
  • Appliance integration (refrigerators, heaters, fans).
  • Control panels, wiring harnesses, and circuit protection.
  • Integration of smart features, connectivity, and IoT solutions (e.g., remote monitoring, app control).
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Perform electrical load calculations, power consumption analysis, and thermal management design.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., RVIA, NEC, UL) and industry regulations.
  • Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and troubleshooting of prototypes and production units.
  • Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality, reliable electrical components.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing and service teams regarding electrical systems.

Combined Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration of innovations into the overall product design, ensuring a cohesive and superior user experience.
  • Act as the primary technical expert for electrical systems within the product development process.
  • Drive continuous improvement in both product features and system reliability and efficiency.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Technical Documentation: Ability to create schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Knowledge of RVIA, NEC, UL standards.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Strong skills in validation, load calculations, and thermal management.
  • CAD Software: For electrical design.
  • Project Management Tools: Ability to track product development and timelines.
  • Innovative Thinker: Able to envision and implement cutting-edge solutions.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong technical and strategic analysis capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of combined experience in engineering design and product management, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
  • Proven experience with 12V DC and 120V AC systems and power electronics.
  • Prior experience in the RV, automotive, marine, or outdoor recreation industry is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing new products to market from concept to launch.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; crouch; use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, or carry; reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear; read and identify numbers
  • Regularly required to apply sound reasoning and logic performing daily tasks.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance or stoop; kneel, and crawl.
  • Regularly required to work in production warehouse with varying temperatures and exposure to noise.
  • On Site work schedule with opportunity for occasional hybrid schedule, business located in Winlock, Washington

Schedule/Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm with some flexibility, occasional weekend work may be necessary
  • Full-time

Compensation and Pay Status:

  • Base salary in the range of $85,000k - $95,000 per year, DOE
  • Health Insurance Reimbursement for Employees
  • PTO - 10 days per year
